What motivated you to join gal-dem?
I decided to get involved in gal-dem as, over the past few years, I’ve been noticing a lack of representation in the media. Studying journalism made me realise that, although traditional journalism isn’t for me, there are so many other ways for us to tell our own stories and make our voices heard. For me, gal-dem is the perfect platform for that!
Tell us about your role as gal-dem Social Media Manager.
Social media is such a powerful tool for connecting people. Reading blogs and scrolling through Twitter has played a huge part in helping me discover more about the issues I care about and has allowed me to connect with some amazing, inspirational people, so I hope that my role will help others do the same.
What are your interests/hobbies?
Nothing extraordinary – I love an addictive TV show to obsess over, good food and a decent book. I love reading! After years of struggling to find time to read, I’ve finally gotten back into it so I’m enjoying discovering new genres and themes at the moment.
Fun fact about yourself?
I have really weird hiccups. I’ve been told they sound like a dinosaur.
Who inspires you?
My parents’ passion, ambition and strength inspires me. The older I get the more I am in awe of them! And Oprah. Always Oprah.
