Opulent tracksuits and top-to-toe velvet at Astrid Andersen AW17

09 Jan 2017

The fluffy-hooded parkas from Astrid Andersen’s AW16 collection appeared again on the catwalk this season, but this time the fur had grown to cover the entire coat in an opulent statement about how men’s fashion ought to be. Andersen lavishly reclaimed the tracksuit, and it was purely for the spectacle rather than for chilling on the sofa or popping out to the off-licence (there’s nothing relaxed about top-to-toe velvet). Models were peacocking down the runway in an autumnal palette of plums, mustards, golds and navys to the poetry of James Massiah. Take note: corduroy seems to being playing a huge role this season, and the beret is evidently here to stay.
